Our Activities
At Nery’s Promise we don’t pass up a chance to celebrate with our children. We go all out during special occasions and they love it!
We make their Easter unforgettable as we prepare for our children a whole day of fun. A Powerful Easter message and a delicious feast are followed by, of course, the biggest Easter Egg Hunt in Richmond, Texas!
During Thanksgiving, we humbly witness hundreds of families lining up to receive our Thanksgiving gift baskets that we lovingly prepare with turkey and all the trimmings. A feast for everyone!
Christmas is very special at Nery’s Promise. We want no child left behind as we gather together and deliver gifts. It’s quite a huge. undertaking, but we want each of God’s children to feel special and to feel loved.
Backpack Stuffing is a fun way to prepare the children for returning back to school. We provide needed supplies to help them return with confidence and an eagerness to learn.
We want our community’s children to have all the advantages we can give them.
Weekly, we partner with Doing Our Part, Dedric K. Myers, to teach kids everything from kitchen safety to cooking techniques. We even teach them proper table settings and manners, then their prepared meals are enjoyed by our youth.
Once a week General Educational Development (GED) partner with Friends of North Richmond (FNR), for those adults who do not have high school diplomas.
We have on hand a number of computers to help our kids stay ahead of the technology curve.
Tutoring is important. We work with individuals with anything and everything, from tutoring specific subjects to teaching them basic reading skills.
KIDZ GARDEN
Nery’s Kidz Garden is hosted by Patty Stemmer, a Master Gardener, who teaches our kids not only patience and careful watchfulness, but also production and frugality. Above all she is teaching them how to trust.
Nery’s kids reap the rewards of cooking with these spring and fall vegetables we harvest from our garden. They are learning how to season dishes with fresh herbs from the herb garden. We also help them come up with new homemade dishes, all using produce straight from our garden.
They all appreciate how much better food tastes when they grow it themselves. It’s beautiful to see our kids recognize and appreciate yet another facet of our Maker’s miraculous creation.
BIBLE STUDIES
Four days each week we set aside time for mentoring and bible studies.
Pre-K to 5th Grade meet on Tuesdays. Our goal is to help transform their lives through the love of Jesus Christ. We use planned curriculum as a source to encourage scripture memorization, biblical teaching and fellowship.
On Thursdays we host our Ladies Bible Ministries – A wonderful opportunity to grow in God’s word and share life with women of all ages and life stages who want to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. Mentorship at Nery’s Promise is founded on principles of self-reliance. Helping doesn’t mean just handouts. We provide additional job training and education that will be essential to their success.
Armando Queiroga from RPC partners with us in a Men’s Bible Study and Mentorship Program. If you are a man who desires to grow deeper in your understanding of God’s word and how to apply it to your daily life, our ministry is just for you. We are offering fellowship, on the 1st & 3rd Friday of each month.
“The Future” is a Community Youth Mentoring / Partnering with Nery’s Promise. Our mission as a faith-based community youth mentoring program. It combines a valuable life-skills curriculum with barrier-breaking group interactions. This group positively influences and empowers the youth of Richmond, Rosenberg and our surrounding communities. We want our youth to expect more from their lives; more than what is being offered to them on the streets.
DINNER & DELIVERIES
Mon-Tue-Wed-Thru-Fri-Sat-Sun. Matthew 25:35 tells us “I was hungry and you gave me something to eat. Nery’s Promise feeds community kids, elderly and the homeless every day. We want to give them HOPE and take some stress off parents who need a lift.
Like the community-changers who support Nery’s Promise, we are focused on our mission of making a long-term impact by feeding nutritious dinner Meals to our community. We aim to give hope, dignity and comfort to those who desperately need help. We invite you to help Nery’s Promise “pay forward” God’s grace and favor.
